Balustrade
Section of balustrade from the third floor of the dwelling house, North Family, Mount Lebanon, NY
Description
Section of balustrade consisting of a length of white pine rail (Pinus strobus), six turned maple (Acer spp.) balusters, and two turned posts, also of maple (Acer spp.). Balusters and posts are tenoned into round mortises in underside of rail and bottoms of balusters and rails have turned round tenons. One end of rail was set into a wall; the other end is nicely rounded as an exposed end. Rail and posts appear to have some sort of yellow wash, balusters are washed red. Entire object is clear coated.
