A cast iron or steel two-tined fork with tang is driven into the tapered end of a between-centers turned ash handle. A tapered iron sleeve surrounds the tapered handled end in which the tang is inserted which serves as a ferrule. The sleeve, handle, tang assembly is pinned with an iron pin.
