Red-painted child's cradle
Description
Child's cradle of white pine (Pinus strobus) with sloping sides and ends and dovetailed corner joinery. Highly ornate rockers are secured to the underside by screws through the bottom which engage the top rocker edges. The joinery is reinforced by a chamfered stretcher of ash, probably white (Fraxinus americana) that is through tenoned in the rockers and the ends of the tenons pinned. The cradle is painted red except the for the bottom inside.
