Description

Shop-made specialty plane with maple body and wedge and a forged steel iron. Plane is made with entire throat open to the proper right side. A strip of sheet iron is set into a slot in the sole such that its edge is proud of the sole by 3/32" and the v-shaped cutting edge of the iron is held adjacent to this iron strip. The wedge was scavenged from some other plane given the mismatch of oxidation lines on the wedge with the depth of penetration of the wedge in this plane body.
