Description

Nosing plane with maple body, open tale handle and wedge. Iron is wrought and has a tool steel insert hammer welded to face at cutting edge. Concavity in sole is lined with metal, probably iron. The wood sole exposed to either side at the metal lining each has ten small nail holes spaced along their lengths, indicating that some sort of fences or were attached there at some time. Remnant of a leather pad is still glued to the bed just above the mouth, Iron strike button.
