Native-American made basket lined with pages from an 1821 almanac, Mount Lebanon, NY

Description
Basket (a) of black ash splint. Square base and circular, split, flat rim with single lashing. Uprights 5/8 - 7/8" wide, weavers 3/4 - 1 1/4", except two weavers at the top (1/8" wide). Uprights are alternately dyed cherry red and streaks of green. The interior lined with sheets of Webster's Almanac for 1821, by Andrew Beers, Philom. Printed Websters & Skinners, Albany. The circular lid (b), 16 5/8" in diameter, and single-lashed with a split upright in the center, 5" in diameter. Lid lined with the same material as the basket, with single lashing around the rim.
