Description
Rounder plane consisting of a block of maple turned to a 6 1/2" diameter cylinder, about 4 3/4" long, which is tapered to 2 9/16" diameter over a further 6" of length. The center of this block is drilled or turned to a 3 1/4" diameter hole that tapers to 1" diameter about 4" from conical end. A V-shaped throat is cut into the cylindrical end and a steel cutter is bolted onto one face of the V. Beyond the cutter throat, a forged iron ring is secured around the cylinder. A 1" diameter hole is drilled blind into either side of the quiller to house handles for turning the device. A 1" diameter red oak handle is in one hole but this is not original to the object.
