Cupboard
One door cupboard, North Family, Mount Lebanon, NY
Description
Pine cupboard. The top hangs over the front and sides. The door is nearly the entire width of the cupboard and is the same height as the sides, so the top of the door butts up against the top of the cupboard. The framed door has two panels of basswood. In the center of the right door frame is a turned wooden knob. 2 1/4" above the knob is a keyhole, behind which is a steel plate. To the right of the door about two inches above the keyhole is a rectangular piece of wood, which, when turned, secures the door closed. Inside the cupboard are three shelves. About half way in between the top shelf and the cupboard ceiling are two pieces of wood secured to either side.
Notes
Acquired by the donor from Eldress Rosetta Stephens of the North Family, according to whom it was used in the shirt-making industry.
