Sheet-metal oil can (a) with lid (b), probably originally tin-plate, but exterior is corroded. Can and lid joints are crimped and soldered. Spout seams are overlaid and soldered. Spout and reinforcement as well as strap handle are surface soldered to can.
The oil can was purchased by the donor from Edgar Crete, a caretaker at the Hancock Shaker community.
