Wringer, Clothes
Clothing wringer, Church Family, Mount Lebanon, NY
Description
Hand-cranked wringer of commercial manufacture of maple, iron, and steel. A cast iron eccentric wheel on the end of the lower roller (crank at other end) turns between two rotating maple disks forcing the lower roller to reciprocate from side to side while rotating. Upper rollers are pressured by springs over the uprights and the amount of pressure is adjustable by tightening or loosening the octagonal wooden nuts threaded onto the threaded uprights. A "J-Bolt" with wing nut at each end allows the wringer to be secured to the edge of a tub.
