Description

Rectangular purse of handwoven red/green/blue multi cloth. Bottom board is 3 1/4" wide x 12 3/4" long, with five brass bosses 7/8" in diameter arranged in quincunx order on the bottom. The sides are 10" high, the top edge, over which the flap folds, is strengthened by a 3/8" dowel rod of wood, as is the hinge of the flap itself. This flap extends over about 4 1/2" and is held down by lock riveted onto the bag, 1 3/4" diameter, of brass; the edge of the flap has a brass half escutcheon riveted to it, which locks into the lower part. The key is attached to the bag by a small cord like a thin, round shoestring, 1 1/2" long; it is passed through the side just under the strengthening rod, nearly directly over the lock. A similar 1" doubled-over handle 18 1/2" long is attached, and the flap is edged with the same green twilled tape. Lined with chocolate brown cotton.
