Description

Hat mold cut from a block of tulip poplar, then modified. A 1/2" disk of pine and a 3/8" disk of cherry were nailed to underside, the mold was cut at an angle and off-center, a 7/16" section of poplar screwed to cut face of smaller portion of mold and a tapered square mortise cut into the bottom of each. A crowned pine brim mold with two-tapered square tenons extending from upper surface fit into these mortises securing the enlarged, crown form to the brim mold. Larger half of crown mold (a), smaller half (b), brim mold/base (c).
