Device forged and then machined from iron or steel stock. Square bar stock (9/16" square) was forged to a taper by rounding the arrises. Then it was mounted in a metal-working lathe and a tapered cylinder, 15/32" diameter to 3/16" diameter over about 2 1/2", terminated by a (now) flat end. A 1/8" diameter hole is drilled through taper about 2 5/16" from small end.
