Crock
Four-gallon stoneware crock used in the medicine department, Center Family, Mount Lebanon, NY
Description
Four-gallon stoneware crock and lid with a salt glaze. The outside of the crock is a glossy tan, and the inside is coated with what appears to be a glossy dark brown Albany slip. The crock features a cobalt slip-trailed floral motif. What appear to be diagonal rib marks wrap around the jug approximately two-thirds of the way up. The crock has two lug handles, one on each side. The knob and top of the lid are coated in a glossy yellow brown glaze, and the rest of the outer lid and the inner lip are a glossy grayish tan. The rest of the inside of the lid is naked, a matte yellow. What appear to be throwing lines run around the inside of the lid.
