Description

Box (a) with inner (b) and outer (c) lids of lead or some other heavy, soft metal. Box has square cross-section, a solid bottom, and a top with a 5 3/4" diameter flanged hole in top. All joints are soldered. Inner lid stamped or pressed to shape - pan shaped open upwards with slightly rolled rim which rests on top edge of flange around hole in top of box. This lid has a turned wood knob glued on in center. Remnants of paper glued to inside of lid rim. Outer lid is also stamped or pressed to a slightly pointed dome with a strip of material soldered to edge. This flange fits over outside of flange in box top.
