Shawl
Description
Wool weft, possible wool silk blend for warp; borders of silk stripes across both ends and along fringed length (2 3/8" stripe with three pinstripes in between). Woven in predominantly left hand twill with reverse to right twill for silk stripes at edges.
Notes
Believed to be worn over a Sunday kerchief to keep it clean. Owned by Eldress Harriet Bullard; may have been woven by her as well. Given to the donor by Eldress Anna Case of the Watervliet, NY Shakers; the donor lived at Watervliet's South Family as a child.
