Black ash splint basket inscribed "OF", Church Family, Mount Lebanon, NY
Description
Square base to oval rim. Black ash splint. Uprights ranging from 1/4" - 3/4" wide; weavers 1/4" wide. Split rim with single lashing. Bonnet-shaped handle, double-notched, rises above basket about 7" and comes down on the inside. Base is plain weave (tight or filled) with splints ranging from 1/2" - 7/8". Cat's head base.
