Last, Shoe
Shoe last, Canterbury, NH
Description
A wood block cut in the shape of a shoe. The last comprises two parts secured together by straw/string looped around the last and through a through-hole on the wedge. The wedge's hole is filled with a plaster-like substance. The bottom piece is cut at an angle from the joint up to allow for the top piece to sit flush. The bottom piece has a tube hole at top just past where the wedge and bottom piece meet. Below the top, near the heel curve, is a through-hole 9/32" in diameter. The heel curve extends from the top to seat for 2 1/2". The sides of the seat are curved to form the waist and widens to the joint before tapering toward the round toe. There are numerous holes in the seat which follow the outline of sides.
