Squeezer, Fruit
Fruit squeezer mounted on board, North Family, Mount Lebanon, NY
Description
Wooden fruit squeezer made up of a rectangular board with a turned handle secured to a rectangular wood block with two metal hinges. When opened, the upper block has a half-sphere screwed into it. The bottom block has been cut down to make space for the half-sphere and has seven holes drilled through. The bottom block sits on top of three turned dowels, with one at one end and two at the other. In between the two dowels at one end there is a concave half-sphere (purpose unknown). These dowels secure the squeezing mechanism to a larger rectangular board. One this board, directly below the perforated portion of the press, there is a circular outline cut into the board. There is another small circular cut-out at its center.
