Description
Dr. Carl Semelroth was apparently a homeopathic physician that was engaged by the Shakers at Mount Lebanon, NY. In the late 1880s he communicated with several medical journals giving his address as Mount Lebanon, NY, so may have even taken up residence for a time with the Shakers. Around the turn of the century he seems to have moved to Mt. Vernon, NY. For another copy of this photograph see: 1967.16069.30. The back of this photograph is inscribed, "Elizabeth Cantrell, Dec. 25, 1889."
