Punch, Fabric

Circular fabric punch with pinked edge, Hancock, MA

Object ID:
1957.8304.1
Community:
Massachusetts, Hancock
Description

A cast or machined steel cylindrical cutter fitted to a turned cherry handle. The circular cutter edge has been machined to produce a cutting edge that cuts a circle with a pinked or zigzag edge.

Notes

Used to cut circles of fabric for fancy goods. The edges of the resultant circles resemble edges cut with pinking shears, and have the benefit of not raveling as readily as a straight cut edge.
