Description
The image is of the workshop in the South Family's Wash House and Sisters' Workshop where Sister Sarah Collins wove the webbed seats in Shaker chairs. On the far left-hand side of the image is a vise used in webbing chairs. The vise, which is mounted on the wall, held a chair so it could be rotated as the continuour weaving of the seat was done and that vise, or one very much like it, is in the collection of the Shaker Museum|Mount Lebanon.
