Mold, Basket Weaving
Basket form, Church Family, Mount Lebanon, NY
Description
Break-down mold made up of three pieces of white pine, and sheet metal. The sheet metal and screw eye are secured to the center wood block. The other two wood blocks are attached with set in dovetails, so that the mold can be removed from a completed basket more easily. The sides of the mold are rounded, and the top and bottom surfaces are flat. One side has the removable and fixed mating ends identified. The left end and mating surface are "0" while the right ends are "1", all written in pencil. There is also a penciled "X" near the top of the right and of the center portion of the mold, just below the sheet metal.
