Description

This view of the Mount Lebanon Meetinghouse (1824) includes people in scenery. One Shaker brother is driving a wagonette? with two Sisters in the back seat. There appear to be two Shaker Brothers talking over the fence that separated the Meetinghouse yard from the Dwelling House yard. On the far right is a group of women -- probably, judging from their dress, non-Shakers visitors. The photograph was taken prior to May 12, 1871 when the board fence along the road on the left was replaced by the metal fence seen in later photographs.
