Block with strap or handle, Church Family, Mount Lebanon, NY
Description
Block of white pine laminated from seven thinner pieces of pine. Glue joint between two layers has failed, so block is now in two pieces that are kept together by a leather strap secured to the top of the two pieces, with a decorative head brass upholstery tack, and two iron tacks at each end. The sides of the block have a series of knife lines continuous around all four sides.
