Description

Rectangular basket of black ash splint. Uprights 3/8" - 1/2" wide and weavers 1/4" wide. Split rim with double lashing. Bonnet-shaped handle, double-notched, that comes down on the inside. Handle is about 6" high at highest point. Three cleats nailed onto bottom.

Notes

When acquired, this basket had a handwritten tag that read on one side, "Things to be whitened in Spring when the weather permits" and on the other side, "1941. Christmas cards of every [?]. Some new ones, some that have been answered, and some that were not answered. Emma J. Neale."
