Table, Side
One drawer side table, Canterbury, NH
ca. 1860
Description
Single drawer side table. Four delicately proportioned turned birch legs with end and back aprons of butternut, drawer rails of ash and a pine top slightly chamfered around its perimeter on the underside. The drawer is dovetailed with a butternut front and a cherry between-centers turned knob glued into a mortise in its center, sides, back, and bottom of white pine. Table painted with a bittersweet wash at some point in time but has been refinished. Legs are slightly splayed on ends, front and back. Pine top secured with steel flat-head wood screws which, owing to their bright finish, would seem to be replacements. Illegible penciled script on underside of top.
