Brass compass with two legs; one leg has permanently affixed steel leg, triangular cross-section with sharp point at bottom. Other leg has a steel thumbscrew to lock interchangeable legs in place, which are no longer extant. Pivot between legs is under some sort of spring load so that once adjusted, the legs stay in place.
