Description

Section of peg rail with seventeen pegs. Rail is white pine with top, bottom, and one end arris rounded over; other end is cut square and grooved for a butting section of rail with a tongue. Eight pegs are turned from black walnut and have threaded tenons. Remaining pegs are turned from birch and have round tenons that are glued into their mortises. Walnut pegs extend 2 7/8" from rail; birch 2 1/8". Two end pegs are birch and remaining seven birch pegs are centered between walnut pegs. Rail stained or washed with something that has aged to brown. Walnut pegs are natural. Birch pegs appear to have been painted yellow.
