Description

Pine chest of dovetailed construction with nailed on bottom and lid. Lid hinged to narrow hinge rail at back of top with surface mounted brass butt hinges. Lid held flat by two screwed-on cleats on inside and held closed by a brass hook on chest and eye on lid. Japanned steel plates and handles on ends. Interior divided. Exterior and inside of lid painted red. Interior lined with yellow paper (appears to be white or light-colored paper painted yellow) except for left compartment bottom which is covered with blue paper.
