Carrier handle bending form, North Family, Mount Lebanon, NY

Object ID:
1955.7762.1
Community:
New York, Mount Lebanon
Description

Carrier handle-bending form with basswood (Tilia americana) sides, top, ends and feet, and side retainers as well as wedges. Top clamp bar, side retainer supports, and assembly at end are white pine (Pinus strobus).

Notes

Accession card notes that this may be an older type of form than the ones obtained from George Roberts and used in the Church Family (#1952.5502.1 through 1952.5510.1), as these have wedges instead of screw clamps. Form is originally from the North Family, Mount Lebanon, New York Shakers.
