Laundry plunger of ash and curly birch. Handle (ash) and plunger (birch) are both turned between centers and the bottom end of the handle is inserted into a 15/16" diameter round mortise in plunger (not through) and wedged in place with a tiny wooden wedge inserted along side of handle. No discernible finish.
