Two drawer blanket chest stained red, Hancock, MA
Description
Pine blanket box or chest with two drawers. There are interior lidded tills at either end and a vertical cleat with knob set into a dado in center of back which can be pushed down to lock drawers. An iron half-mortise chest lock allows chest to be locked as well. Chest lid is hinged with iron butts. Scrolled cut-outs at bottoms of ends form feet. Maple knobs. Stained or washed red and varnished over. Drawers are lipped and dovetailed.
