Description

Blanket chest (a) of maple. Front and back rabbeted and nailed to ends. Ends have arched cutouts forming feet and applied pieces of maple on front edges of ends below front board repeat arched cutout motif. Lid has molded ends and front, applied chamfered cleats nailed to undersides of end overhang. Bottom is butted to ends, front, and back and glued and nailed into place. Half-mortise steel chest lock complete with keeper and key (b) allow chest to be locked. Lid hinged with forged chest hinges. Front, top, and ends of chest are painted dark green; interior and back have no finish. Cast iron chest lifts are set into each end.
