Burnisher
Burnisher, Mount Lebanon, NY
Description
Polishing stone set in a wooden edge tool. The handle is cut into a block "y" shape and the stone is set within the two arms. The stone is flat on top with the bottom overlapping the wooden arm and rounding in a concave line to meet the top of the stone. The handle than goes from rectangular to rounded and a scribe line is visible at the first fully rounded section from the stone. The handle bulges at its center, tapers toward its end, grows outward and finishes as a square. To make it an edge tool the base of the handle is nearly flat, but on one side the wood protrudes outward 10/16".
