Awl, Leather
Bradawl, Hancock, MA
Description
Leather awl. Blade has oval cross-section which tapers and ends with round flattened edge; has square base set into turned wooden handle. Appears there was a ferrule at one time as the wood of handle just below blade is lighter in color than rest of handle and is smaller in diameter. Below this section there is a 1/8" turned section followed by slight recess. After recess handle increases in size, becoming bulbous. At widest point of handle there are three scribe lines. Two of the scribe lines are closer to each other than the third.
