Description

Footstool or leg rest of white pine (Pinus strobus) with four turned chestnut (Castanea dentata) legs. Nicely made. Legs mortised into pine cleats screwed to underside of sloping stool top. A footboard is screwed to the top and the two shorter legs, also of white pine. No finish.

Notes

According to the Sabbathday Lake Shakers, from whom this piece was acquired, this stool was for the use of invalids.
