Cutting gauge of beech and iron or steel. Stem mortised and tenoned to a jack handle and the joint is pinned. A moveable fence rides along the stem and a wedged mortise allows the fence to be locked. A forged metal blade is mortised through the stem an inch or so in from the handle and this blade is locked by another ledge.
