Spit box painted yellow, Church Family, Mount Lebanon, NY
Description
Spit box with pine bottom, steam-bent maple side band and steam-bent maple top rim. Overlap in side band secured outside with fourteen (visible) copper tacks in vertical line. The overlap is secured with eight more tacks. The rim band is held in place with copper tacks while the side band is fastened to the bottom with copper shoe pegs. Side band painted yellow inside and out. Bottom appears unfinished.
