Trunk with domed lid, stained yellow-brown, Canterbury, NH
Description
Pine trunk with front and back butted and nailed to ends. Bottom applied by nailing. Ends are arched to form dome lid. Lid cut off after assembly and hinged to back with leather hinges. Thin pine board bent to shape over arched ends and nailed. Thin pine cleats around top inside hold lid in position over trunk sides. Small iron chest lock half mortised inside front. Painted yellow on outside.
