Smith-made iron or steel taper auger. Bit consists of an open, tapered half cylinder with a round, flat iron disk for a nose, a square shank and a tapered square tang with a rectangular hole. There are two 3/8" diameter holes through the tapered cylinder wall for securing a "liner" which increased the effective diameter of the bit.
