Description
Water-powered up and down saw. Blade and carrier mounted between two 82" x 5 1/8" x 5 3/8" beams. Drive shaft and eccentric wheel missing. Table and posts, and rack and pinion shafts are Shaker-made. Tensioning device and other hardware commercial. Top of bed shows Daniels planer marks (1828) and screws holding sawgate are not tapered or pointed (pre-1850). Used to cut on rip lumber along its length.
