Burnisher
Burnisher, Mount Lebanon, NY
Description
Long colted stick. Cigar-shaped stick for smoothing leather. The butts of the stick are flat with rounded edges. The stick gradually widens from the end to the center of the stick. One side of the stick has been shaved flat and has a rectangular cut-out to accommodate a burnishing stone. The stone has two flat ends and a rounded top that extends to the sides in a singular curve. The stone protrudes from the stick revealing the stone's tang. On the stick there are three sets of turn lines: one line at either end of the stone and a group of three which encircle the center of the stick, but are cut-off by the inclusion of the stone.
