A one-handed shave with a cast steel cutting head with tang fit into a whittled handle of (probably) ash. Handle has iron ferrule. Since there seems to be a faint seam down the tang, this tool may have been forged from a pre-existing cast steel tool by the Shakers.
Used to scrape labels from boxes in the Medicine Department.
