Description
Strange plane, Body and wedge of maple, double iron, crude fence assembly of red oak attached to sole ahead of mouth and sole beneath fence covered by a metal plate. Appears to be a modified jointing or trying plane cut down in length with heel and toe stepped so that plane can be fixed to a bench or other support upside down and wood stock passed over iron to joint the edge. Cast steel iron and cap iron. Cap iron has tapped brass bushing to accept machine screw.
