Small round box painted yellow, Canterbury, NH

Description
Maple box (a) and lid (b) rims steam-bent to round, secured by a vertical row of seven copper tacks in the box and two in the lid. Headers of white pine secured to rims with copper points. Straight overlap joint with no swallow-tails. Painted or washed with bright yellow, and the sides and top varnished over.

A nearly identical box featured in the exhibition and catalogue "Shaker Design" (1986, June Sprigg) was inscribed by Elder Joseph Johnson of Canterbury, NH.
