Oval box, Mount Lebanon, NY

Object ID:
1957.8279.1a,b
Community:
New York, Mount Lebanon
Description

Steam-bent maple oval box (a) and lid (b) rims. Two swallow-tails on the box and one on the lid, secured by copper tacks. White pine top and bottom headers held by copper points. Washed with a salmon color and varnished over. The box is a #9 box size, but was cut down in height, eliminating most of the top swallow-tail. Irregular diamond-shaped white paper glued to the center of the top with a penciled script inscription. Appears to start "No....", but text is illegible.
