Community:
Maine, Sabbathday Lake
Makers
Wilson, Delmer Charles (1873-1961)
Description

Oval box (a) has a steam-bent beech rim with four swallow-tails secured by copper tacks. Lid (b) has a steam-bent cherry rim with a single swallow-tail secured by copper tacks. Both rims are held to their respective headers by steel wire brads. Heavily varnished or shellacked inside and out.

Notes

Brother Delmer Wilson reportedly made this box "out of odd pieces." The shape is more elliptical than oval, and the column of tacks at the swallowtails are more even than on some of Br. Delmer's other boxes.
