Description

Basket. Black ash-splint rectangular basket. Uprights, 1/4"; weavers 3/10" w. Split rim with single lashing. Bonnet-shaped handle, double-notched, 1/4" w. Uprights continue downward to create plain weave open base.

Notes

This basket was owned by Sister Phoebe Van Houten, but it is not known if she was the actual maker. It was given by Sr. Phoebe to the donor, a distant relative, who wrote her name on the bottom.
