Rail, Peg
Peg rail, Mount Lebanon, NY
Description
Pine rail with thirteen maple pegs. Rail arrises on front are rounded over. Pegs were turned between-centers and threaded; however threaded tenons slip through rail and, originally, were screwed into a backing cleat set into the plaster wall. The pegs held the peg rail in place. Pegs are now secured with braided picture hanging wire. Painted blue over blue. One end coped and unpainted; other cut square and painted.
